The Art of Waiting on God

Waiting on God is an essential aspect of our walk as a Christ follower. It involves trusting in God's timing, purpose, and plan for our lives. It's a concept deeply rooted in Scripture and is seen as a virtue in the Christian walk.

One of the key verses that encapsulates this idea is Isaiah 40:31: "But they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint."

This verse highlights that in the busyness of life, we can rely on His strength and timing. So, If my to-do list is longer than my arm and the familiar feelings of being overwhelmed and stress start to creep in, we can pray and ask Him to fill us afresh with His presence so that we can walk and not faint, run, and not be weary.

We women are an exhausted bunch! But what if we learned the art of waiting on Him, drawing our strength from His presence, and then living our lives from the overflow? That’s one of the benefits of being His daughter. He renews our strength.

The Art of Waiting on God Involves:

  • Patience and Trust: It requires patience and a deep trust in God's character and promises. This trust acknowledges that God's timing is perfect, even when it doesn't align with our desires or plans.

  • Prayer and Seeking God's Will: During the waiting period, prayer becomes crucial. It's about seeking God's will and guidance. Through prayer, we find peace and strength while waiting. Perhaps you are waiting for God to move in the life of one of your children. Don’t give up. Persevere in prayer.

  • Strengthening Faith: Waiting on God often tests and strengthens faith. It's an opportunity to deepen the relationship with God, relying on Him more fully and learning to surrender control.

  • Preparation and Growth: While waiting, there's often an opportunity for personal growth and preparation for what's to come. God might be using this time to equip you for the next phase of your journey.

  • Finding Peace in His Sovereignty: Understanding that God is sovereign and in control can bring immense peace during waiting periods. It means acknowledging  God sees the bigger picture, even when we don't.

  • Perseverance: Waiting on God might involve enduring challenges or facing obstacles. Perseverance becomes vital in these times, holding onto hope and faith despite difficulties.

It's important to note that waiting on God doesn't mean being passive or inactive. It's about actively seeking God's will while engaging in spiritual growth, and fulfilling responsibilities while trusting in His timing and direction.

This perspective on waiting is not just about enduring a period of delay; it's about embracing a mindset that acknowledges God's sovereignty, trusts in His goodness, and seeks His will throughout every season of life.

With Encouragement and Support,

Julia
