The Power of Gratitude: It will Change Your Life!

There are so many seasons in my life when I’ve struggled with being content; being at peace. Recently, I came across an incredible exercise that has helped me to find a level of contentment that I’ve not experienced often in my life. It’s from Matthew Kelly’s book, The Seven Levels of Intimacy. Give it a try. I promise it will help.

The first part of the challenge: Go 24-hours without complaining.

The second part of the challenge: Across a sheet of paper write, “I’m thankful for…” across the top. Below it are three columns. Above the first column write, “Things.” Write a list of all the material things you are glad you have. Above the second column write, “People.” List the people in their lives, past and present, whom they appreciate. The third column is labeled, “Other,” where you are to list anything that doesn’t fit into the first two columns.

The third part of the challenge: Read the list four times within the next 24 hours; after lunch, before dinner, before going to bed, and before going to work or school the next morning.

Same exercise only this time add a fourth column and include a list of all the things about your spouse that you are grateful for and then mail it - yes, mail it, even if you live in the same house. It will be a huge source of encouragement to your spouse and will change the way you feel about life and your marriage.

Lots of Love,
