Small Steps Towards Sacred Rhythms
Small Steps Towards Sacred Rhythms
Have you ever wondered what is the difference between daily routines and sacred rhythms? Well, let’s take a few minutes and explore this topic together. The best way for me to explain it is to share with you my personal daily routines vs my sacred rhythms. Here is my morning daily routine. Up by 6:30, 20-minute workout, time in the Word or a great book, time with the Father, make my breakfast shake, shower, off to work and in my workspace by 8:45. I’ve learned that daily routines are imperative for my spiritual and mental wellbeing AND they are for you as well. I’ll share the importance of routine in another blog post. However, my daily routines are different from sacred rhythms, and here’s how.

The Storms of Life
My husband is a fisherman. He will fish anywhere, anytime — lakes, creeks, streams, rivers, oceans — wherever there are fish. We used to live in South Florida where he would fish off-shore on a weekly basis. He would tell tall tales (because that’s what fishermen do) of being off-shore in perfectly lovely weather only for a squall (storm) to appear out of nowhere.

Moving Forward from the Past
It’s early morning, very quiet, and a dense fog has settled in, which makes boating difficult for those so inclined. I’m not so inclined. I’m sitting in my home office, candlelit, latte in hand, and soft music playing on the echo dot.
In the quietness of the morning I’ve been pondering and praying; praying and pondering on how to move forward from those things that keep us stuck in the past.

Hope-full
Recently, while searching the shelves at the beauty supply store for something to manage my aging eye area – I came across a jar of cream that promised it was, “hope in a jar”. I passed it up assuming it was too good to be true and besides, hope shouldn’t be so expensive.
What is hope? It is far more than wishes or dreams. It is what gets you up in the morning and allows you to sleep at night.
